Enable 2-Step Verification Emergency Backup Codes
In the event your phone is lost or stolen, one-time-use emergency backup 2-Step Verification codes will allow you to access your Stevenson Google account. As the name implies, these codes can base used as the second factor one-time, and will not work again after they have been used.
To enable these emergency backup codes, on the Google Account window, again click the Security link on the left side of the screen.
On the Security page, scroll down to the Signing into Google section, and click 2-Step Verification.
In the Add more second steps to verify it's you section, click the SET UP link under Backup codes.
A window will appear that contains 8-digit codes. These are your one-time use backup codes. Print or download these codes and keep them in a safe place. If your mobile device is ever stolen, you will need these codes to access your Stevenson Google account.
IMPORTANT: NEVER give out your backup codes to anyone. Information Services will NEVER ask for your backup codes.
Once you have printed or downloaded your backup codes, and have them in a safe place, click the CLOSE link.
If you ever need to login to your Stevenson Google account and do not have your mobile device, you can use one of your one-time-use emergency backup codes to log in. When logging in, select Try another way when presented with the 2-Step Verification screen, then enter one of these codes for the 2-Step Verification part.
